NEW YORK, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — Nine people died and one was seriously injured from an accident involving an overloaded SUV in the southeastern U.S. state of Florida, U.S. media reported on Tuesday.
The 2023 Ford Explorer went out of control and hit a guardrail before turning upside down into a canal on Monday evening near Belle Glade in south of Lake Okeechobee, an Associated Press report quoted local authorities as saying.
Four people were pronounced dead at the scene, while another five died at a hospital.
By now, no details on names and ages of the deceased have been released. ■
